About Us

About Space Waves

We publish Space Waves — a free, modern one-button arcade flyer built for the web, with a single endless tunnel that keeps getting harder and is open to anyone who wants to play.

Our craft

One button. Endless tunnel.

Hold, release, and read what is coming. That loop is everything we design around.

What we make

A free arcade flyer that stays in the browser

Space Waves is the site behind our version of the one-button, hold-to-rise arcade genre. The product is simple: hold to make a glowing ship climb through a neon tunnel, release to let it fall, and dodge wall gates, spike strips, and rotating gears for as long as you can. Your score is the distance you covered.

We are not an app store publisher and we do not require a download. The game is the website, rendered on an HTML5 canvas. That choice keeps load times short, works on phones and desktops, and avoids an account wall. Your best distance and run count live in local browser storage on your device.

If you are comparing this to another arcade flyer you found elsewhere, this page only speaks for Space Waves at spacewaves.lol. The mechanics, obstacle types, and difficulty ramp described in our how-to-play guide and FAQ match this exact build of the game.

Our story

An old idea, reflown as a neon flight sim

Space Waves is not a content farm or a meta-game wrapped in ads. It is an arcade toy with a clear fantasy: one hand, one input, and a tunnel that never lets up.

  1. 01

    The lineage

One-button, hold-to-rise arcade games are an old idea in browser gaming — the "helicopter game" genre from the early 2000s, later popularized in a very different skin by Flappy Bird in 2013. The core appeal never needed more than one input: a physics toy you nudge against gravity.

  2. 02

    This build

Space Waves is our take on that lineage, reskinned as a neon sci-fi flight through a scrolling tunnel: a glowing ship, wall gates, spike strips, and rotating gears, with a continuously ramping difficulty curve instead of discrete levels.

  3. 03

    The promise

We build for players who want a genuinely quick arcade loop — thirty seconds between failures at first, longer once the timing clicks — without a login screen or a loading spinner standing between them and the next attempt.

What we stand for

Principles that shape every run

Instant to start

Open the page and the ship is already idling in the tunnel. No account wall, no download, no tutorial video — hold, and you are flying.

One input, no exceptions

Every device — keyboard, mouse, or touchscreen — controls the ship the exact same way: hold to climb, release to fall. We did not add a second input just to look more "featured."

Yours to keep

Best distance and run count live on your device. We do not hold your progress hostage behind a login, and there is no premium obstacle set locked behind a paywall.

Free, for real

The full game is free forever. No energy meters, no ads breaking up a run, no surprise paywalls. If you enjoy Space Waves, that is the whole product.

Who it is for

Players who want a fast, honest arcade loop

Space Waves is a family-friendly, single-player game with no chat and no in-game store. It is a poor fit if you want a long campaign or multiplayer. It is a good fit if you want a genuine reflex challenge you can pick up anywhere.

  • Thirty-second sessions

A run can end in three seconds or run past a minute. Space Waves is built for a phone on the couch or a browser tab between tasks — not a campaign with save slots.

  • Reflexes, not menus

There is nothing to configure before you play. The challenge is entirely physical — timing your hold against gravity — not reading a rulebook first.

  • Play without an account

Your best distance stays on the device you used. That is a deliberate trade: instant play, no cloud restore. We would rather skip the sign-up wall than pretend we host your save.

Why this site

How Space Waves is different

The one-button arcade flyer is a well-worn genre with plenty of clones online. This site exists to ship one honest, fast version of it — with real obstacle variety and no clutter.

  • One difficulty, done honestly

Most arcade-flyer clones bolt on Easy/Medium/Hard menus that just multiply a speed constant. Space Waves instead ramps speed, gap size, and obstacle variety continuously within a single Endless run — the modes page explains exactly how.

  • Three obstacle types, not one repeated pattern

Wall gates, spike strips, and rotating gears each demand a different read. A lot of browser clones in this genre only ever spawn one obstacle shape with the gap moved around.

  • No clutter

No auto-playing video ads, no fake "install our app" banners, no dark patterns around the mute button. The how-to-play guide, tips, and FAQ describe the exact engine you are playing, not a generic write-up.

How we build

Designed for the browser you already have

Space Waves runs entirely on the web using an HTML5 canvas and the Web Audio API — no plugins, no external game engine runtime. That means fast loads, keyboard, mouse, and touch controls that all map to the same single input, and progress that stays local unless you clear your browser data. We use lightweight analytics so we can see what helps players — never to gate the game behind a profile. The same engine that runs on the home page is the one described in our public rules pages, so search results and the live game do not drift apart.

  • Play anywhere

Desktop and mobile share the same tunnel. Keyboard, mouse, or touch — hold to climb is hold to climb, no matter the device in your hand.

  • Progress on your device

Your best distance and run count are stored locally. You own the continuity of your streak without signing up.

  • Quiet improvement

We watch aggregate usage through Google Analytics to improve pacing and polish. Details live in our Privacy Policy — never as a sales pitch.
